Inauguration Week Extended Hours Registration
Registration is now open for eligible businesses to register for extended alcohol service hours during the 60th Presidential Inauguration Week starting the evening of Tuesday, January 14, 2025, and ending at 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21. Inauguration Day is Monday, January 20.
Under DC law, eligible venues can register to sell and serve alcoholic drinks until 4:00 a.m. and operate 24 hours a day during Inauguration Week. Settlement Agreements and Board Orders may affect eligibility.
To register, licensees must submit a completed Inauguration Week Extended Hours form—indicating each date they intend to extend their hours— and provide full payment by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
The daily fee to extended hours is as follows:
- $250—Nightclub
- $100—Restaurant (CR) and Tavern (CT)
- $50—All other On-Premises Retailers including Manufacturers with an On-Site Sales and Consumption Permit
Of note:
- Businesses enrolled in the standard Extended Holiday Hours Program may only extend their hours on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, occurring on Monday, January 20, if they register to do so as part of the 60th Presidential Inauguration Week option.
- Registrants must post a temporary inauguration alcohol license in a conspicuous place on-premises.
- Registrants must separately submit a One-Day Substantial Change Application to extend live entertainment past their currently permitted hours. Entertainment hours are not automatically extended as part of registration in any extended hours program.
- Businesses that wish to offer live entertainment such as a singer or DJ; provide a space for dancing; or charge an entrance fee must secure during a permanent Entertainment Endorsement or secure temporary permission with a One-Day Substantial Change Application.
Inaugural Vending License Program
The Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP) is pleased to announce that temporary Street Vending Licenses will be issued for merchandise and snack vendors. The temporary Street Vending license will be valid for January 19th, 20th, and 21st only. The temporary street vending license provides you with access to vend anywhere in the District that has not been designated as restricted. DLCP will begin to accept applications starting November 30, 2024. The application submission information is as follows:
Existing Vendors
Current licensed DC vendors will be able to continue operating in accordance with their vending business license and site permit. If you would like to vend from an alternate location in the District during the inaugural vending days, please notify DLCP starting November 30, 2025, for requirements. If you normally operate in an area that has been designated as restricted, you will be required to relocate. Please contact DLCP for guidance.
Merchandise Vendors
If you are looking to sell Merchandise or Snack Items** on Inauguration Day 2025, and do not currently hold a Vending Business License in the District of Columbia you must complete the following steps to obtain a Temporary 2025 Inaugural Vending License:
Step 1: Certified copy of Police Criminal History from jurisdiction of residence.
Step 2: Register with the DC Office of Tax and Revenue

All applicants for an Inauguration Vending License must comply with the following DC Code requirements:
Vending Business License Application
- All applicants for an Inauguration Vending License must complete an application and submit the required supporting documentation. Once your application is approved, you will be contacted with instructions on how to submit the associated payment.
Police Criminal History Report (Form PD-70)
- All applicants for an Inauguration Vending License must provide a certified copy of his/her Police Criminal
- History Report from his/her jurisdiction of residence. A resident of the District of Columbia may obtain a Police Criminal History Report (PD-70) from the DC Metropolitan Police Department, Police Criminal History Report Division, 300 Indiana Avenue N.W., Room 3055, Washington, DC 20001. Call (202) 727-4245 for details. A non-resident shall obtain this report from the jurisdiction in which he/she resides. All of the partners in a partnership, and the president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer of a corporation must provide a Police Criminal History Report.
Tax Number
- All Applicants must provide a registered tax number (i.e., SSN or FEIN) at the time of application. Register by completing and filing a Combined Business Tax Registration Application (Form FR-500) with the Office of

Clean Hands Self-Certification
